Direction for use with OAI harvester and the API

Directions and documentation for collection harvesting and API extensions

IFPRI uses CONTENTdm, an OCLC product, as the underlying technology for its Knowledge Repository. The instructions and documentation listed here are a combination of directions specifically written for IFPRI's collections and gathered from OCLC material.
IFPRI's Knowledge Repositories use the qualified Dublin Core metadata schema.

The base URL for IFPRI's repositories is: http://cdm15738.contentdm.oclc.org/oai/oai.php

OCLC documentation on OAI support

According to OCLC, "CONTENTdm Servers support OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) by functioning as OAI repositories for those who wish to make their metadata available for harvesting." "CONTENTdm is fully compliant with OAI-PMH version 2.0. This includes collection-level selection to enable you to choose collections for harvesting on designated servers. Support is also provided for OAI flow control (resumptive token), which permits large harvests of collections to be broken into smaller batches for more reliable network transmission."

Use of API

OCLC provides the following documentation for the CONTENTdm API API documentation from OCLC

Open Linked Data

IFPRI is interested in Linked Open Data and we are exploring ways to integrate Open Data principles and practices into our repositories. Our repositories also benefit from the work of OCLC in brining Open Data features to their products, and IFPRI will provide those Open Data features as they become available. OCLC is working to better integrate Open Linked Data with existing products, FAST (Faceted Application of Subject Terminology) and Liked data research
